A A Quick Look at Oppo’s Universal Players

April 2nd, 2010

The audio visual market has recently been saturated by a whole bunch of players.

The new Oppo BDP-80 is an most noteworthy universal Blu-ray player which has the exact same decoder and many of the same features as its more pricey older brother, the Oppo BDP-83. Not only does it sport similar traits, it too produces the exact same speedy disc load times, response times and robust audio and video controls.

While the Oppo BDP-83 was made of aluminium, the Oppo BDP-80 is made largely of plastic and yet does not lose the solid feel associated with Oppo’s variety of products. Considering the fact that the Oppo BDP-80 is a whole lot cheaper in comparison with the Oppo BDP-83, it truly lack a few of the high end attributes built in the Oppo BDP-83.

Though the Oppo BDP-83 is filled with an already wide variety of abilities such as Anchor Bay Technologies and makes for a true universal player, the Oppo BDP-80 creates a market for itself. The Anchor Bay ABT2010 video processor on the Oppo BDP-83 has been substituted with a ‘System-on-Chip’ and the Oppo BDP-80 does not incorporate a IR in/out, RS-232 control interfaces, nor a backlit remote.

Although the Oppo BDP-83 is already largely known for its fantastic traits, for the variety of abilities found in the Oppo BDP-80, its ridiculously inexpensive price tag is for sure worth every cent! Do check out these blu-ray player reviews for more information.
